CAMPBELL RIVER, BC – The Campbell River Storm are pleased to announce the signing of forward Simon Nizhnikov from King Heights Academy of the CSSHL East U18 Prep league.
Nizhnikov, born in Russia but living in Ontario, played parts of two seasons with King Heights Academy, tallying 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points over 16 games.
“My family and I felt that the Campbell River Storm would be a great fit for me. I’m very grateful for this opportunity and excited to be part of the organization and community,” said Nizhnikov.
“I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and coaches, and playing in front of the fans. Fans can expect a skilled player who is a strong playmaker and a good teammate. I’m excited to put on the Campbell River jersey and get started.”
Storm Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone is excited about the addition of Nizhnikov to the roster.
“Simon is an incredibly talented and cerebral player. Someone can create offence out of seemingly dead-end plays,” said Stone. “He is a pass first, skilled player, that will help us score more goals. We are very happy Simon chose to start his Junior Hockey career in Campbell River as we believe he will be an instant offensive force while providing the type of character we want from our players in the dressing room and the community.”
Nizhnikov will join the Storm for their annual SSHL Tournament on August 14-16 and plans to wear sweater #55 during the 2026-27 season.
