The Campbell River Storm announce they have acquired 1995-born forward, Michael Rand from the Chase Heat of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League for future considerations.

Rand appeared in 38 games between the Chase Heat (KIJHL) and Grandview Steelers (PJHL) in 2012/13. The 6’0”, 175lbs, left-handed forward contributed with 3 goals and 5 assists while adding 14 PIMs. Michael was also an affiliate player with the Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL last season.

Prior to playing for the Heat in 2012/13, Rand also spent some time in the PJHL with the Grandview Steelers and the Langley Eagles Midget AAA team.

Rand’ most impressive numbers came playing Midget AAA for the Langley Eagles where as a 16-year-old he registered 22 goals and 37 assists for 59 points and 46 PIMs in just 50 games.

“We are very excited to add a player like Michael,” said Campbell River Storm Head Coach Lee Stone. “He is a player we identified as an organization over the spring as someone we wanted going forward, he brings an element of speed and offensive prowess any contending team needs,” added Stone.

Rand, from Langley, British Columbia is expected to be attending main camp just down the highway for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL. Rand will bring speed and offensive ability if he does return to the Storm lineup.

“I’m very excited to join the Campbell River Storm hockey club,” said Storm newest forward Michael Rand, who is excited to try out for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. “I’m excited to see what we can do this year, I know that there are high expectations this year and I hope to contribute as best I can,” added Rand.
