Storm Acquire Conner Mowatt

Wednesday, May 25, 2016

The Campbell River Storm Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce the acquisition of 1998 born Conner Mowatt from the Oceanside Generals.

The Storm organization has been interested in the big forward for several years and are eager to see him don the Black and Red. According to General Manager, Lee Stone, "We are very excited to acquire Conner. He is a player that was first identified by former Associate Coach Curt Toneff prior to Conner's sixteen year old season in which he spent playing for the Peninsula Panthers. We once again tried to acquire his rights in the summer time but unfortunately we were unable to. We believe Conner is an intimidating presence on the ice with a knack for scoring goals as he scored 9 last year playing in limited offensive roles in Nanaimo and Oceanside. We believe Conner has the potential to play Jr. A Hockey and our goal is to help him achieve that dream."

Mowatt is a solid two-way player, comfortable as either a power forward or defenceman. He’s a grinder who appreciates the physical side of the game. The young man from Nanaimo is looking forward to the move, “The most attractive feature of committing to the Storm is the incredible team atmosphere and the coaching.”

Although still just 17 (he"ll be 18 in October), the 6’3”,  190 pound forward, has played 72 games in the VIJHL between the Peninsula Panthers, Nanaimo Buccaneers and Oceanside Generals.
