Smooth Skating D-Man Commits

The Campbell River Storm Junior Hockey Club is pleased announce the commitment of 1999 born defenseman Ezra Paddock for the 2015-16 season.  His signing is subject to a try-out with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL.

Paddock, who grew up in Port Alberni, played at the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy in Victoria last season.  In 30 games with the Elite 15 team he registered two goals, five assists, and eighteen minutes in penalties.  He also collected a pair of assists while appearing in eight games with PCHA’s U18 squad.

"Ezra is an extremely smooth, intelligent two way defenseman that fits our style of play exceptionally well,” says Storm Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone, “For a 16 year old defenseman he is as cool as a cucumber with and without the puck. We are very excited to see his development through the year as he is a driven, hardworking player who we expect to see at the next level shortly."

The 5’11”, 176 pound blueliner also made a positive impression on Storm defense coach Curtis Toneff.

"Ezra is going to add an element to our ‘D’ we were looking for with his foot speed and a high hockey IQ -- he has a very mature game for a young defenceman"

Paddock says there’s added incentive because this is a homecoming of sorts for him.

“I was really excited to sign with the Storm as I was born here and really love Campbell River.  I’m very excited to play in front of the amazing fans in my first home game.”

The sixteen-year-old hopes to continue his hockey career in the Junior ‘A’ ranks and eventually move on to the NCAA.
