Jake Mullen Commits to Central Oklahoma

Thursday, April 14, 2016

The Campbell River Storm Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce that Jake Mullen has committed to the University of Central Oklahoma for the 2016-17 season.

UCO Head Coach Craig McAllister is pleased to have acquired the young man from Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, saying, "We are very fortunate to be able to sign a goaltender the quality of Jake.  He is everything we were looking for in a goaltender, size, agility, rebound awareness and is highly competitive."

Mullen is thankful for the opportunity to begin the next phase of his life, "I'm very fortunate and proud to announce my commitment to the University of Central Oklahoma, where I will begin my collegiate career. This opportunity arose with the help of Storm Head Coach Lee Stone, the staff and organization of the Campbell River Storm and I can't thank them enough. Winning a Bronze Medal was a highlight in my career and I only hope to add more at the collegiate level as a Broncho!"

A former college player himself, General Manager Stone feels that this is a positive move for the young man, "I couldn't be more excited for Jake moving forward as he continues his Hockey career with the University of Central Oklahoma. Jake is a late bloomer and will continue to develop into a star goaltender at the ACHA level due to his size, work ethic and raw ability. We wish Jake and the Broncho's the very best of luck moving forward!"

Since coming over from the KIJHL in January, Mullen recorded a record of 13-0-1 in the VIJHL. His GAA was 1.81 with a .923 SV%.
