The Campbell River Storm Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce that 2015-16 Captain, Gage Colpron, has committed to the University of Alberta Augustana Campus for the 2016-17 season.

Augustana Vikings Head Coach Blaine Gusdal is well aware of the abilities from the VIJHL’s top goal scorer, "We're very pleased to have Gage join us with the U of A - Augustana Vikings.  He comes to our program with a tremendous reputation, resume, and pedigree for success.  The offensive numbers he's produced with the Storm are impressive, but we feel the character he's exhibited as a captain, a leader, and as a student will be equally valuable to our program over the next 5 years. We are confident Gage will continue to develop all these strengths as he pursues his athletic and academic goals with the Vikings at the U of A - Augustana and we anticipate he'll make a smooth transition into university hockey."

Colpron is looking forward to the next stage in his life, "I'm very exciting to announce my commitment to U of A - Augustana. With a U of A degree and the winning tradition at Augustana it seemed like a no-brainer.   Coach Gusdal and I talked much about fitting into a small school and I feel that will make the college transition even easier. I want to say thank you to the Storm for all they have done to prepare me for college hockey. I can't wait to play my first game in a Vikings jersey."

One of the key goals of the Storm program is to develop players and Head Coach/General Manager, Lee Stone feels that Colpron is ready for the move to Camrose. "Gage was a superstar for the Campbell River Storm both on and off the ice and we are all thrilled to congratulate him on his recent commitment to Coach Gusdal and the Augustana Vikings Hockey program. It was an absolute pleasure to watch Gage mature both on and off the ice during his 3 years here in Campbell River. He helped revitalize a program here and was a fan favourite through his years. I have little double Gage will excel in the ACAC as he continues to develop as a hockey player, best of luck Gage!"

The 6’2” Kelowna Minor Hockey product played three years in the Black and Red. He was responsible for 110 goals, 207 points in 134 regular season games and is the second highest scorer in Campbell River Storm history. For the past two years, he was the top goal scorer in the VIJHL. Then there’s the hardware; he led the team to a VIJHL Championship, Cyclone Taylor Cup Gold and Bronze medals, as well as a Keystone Cup (Western Canadian Champions).
