The Campbell River Storm Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce the commitment of 1999 born forward Mateo Albinati for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

Albinati played Tier 1 Midget hockey with the Prince George Cougars who won the BC Provincials last season in the Comox Valley. He contributed to an impressive team that won all seven tournaments they played (43-6-3 overall record).

The 6’ 2”, 205 pounder finished the year with 18 goals, 26 assists and 44 penalty minutes.

Storm fans can expect a team player who will contribute both on and off the ice. The young man describes his style, “I’m a hardworking versatile player who tries to create momentum, isn’t afraid to go into the dirty areas and works with the team to succeed.”

General Manager/Head Coach, Lee Stone, feels Albinati will be a great addition to the Storm, “He was very good at (Identification) camp. Everyone I’ve spoken to in Prince George says great things about Mateo, he’s a very good student who comes from a great family.” Last weekend’s camp wasn’t the Storm’s first opportunity to see the 17 year old in action; they saw him play at the Provincials and at the Nanaimo Clippers camp.

Albinati’s goal for the 2016-17 season? “To help Campbell River win the Keystone Cup in whatever role that will utilize my skill set most effectively.”
