Storm Sign Garett Cote from Riggers Hockey Academy 18U
Campbell River, BC — The Campbell River Storm are proud to announce the signing of 2007-born defenseman Garett Cote from the Riggers Hockey Academy 18U program.
Cote appeared in 8 games last season, posting 4 goals and 1 assist for 5 points. He carried that momentum into this past weekend’s SSHL Tournament, where he led all defensemen in scoring with 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points across 5 games played.
“Signing with the Storm is an amazing feeling. I’m really excited for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started with the Storm,” said Cote.
“I’m really looking forward to playing hockey where hockey is loved and supported by the community,” Cote added.
“Fans can expect to see an offensive defenseman that can play both roles in scoring goals and protecting the home,” said Cote of his style of play.
Storm Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone praised the path Cote took to earn his roster spot.
“Garett without question earned his spot on the roster. Not very often do you see a player arrive at multiple camps uncommitted and fight their way onto the roster anymore. Garett did exactly that with our program,” said Stone.
“Combined camp, skills ice and now the SSHL tournament, throughout it all Garett had a positive attitude, great work ethic and put his head down to accomplish his goals,” Stone continued.
“His most exciting attribute is his shot that regularly beats goalies, but he plays a hard, steady defensive game too. His performance at SSHL really solidified his position within our group and quite frankly moved him up the depth chart,” Stone added.
The Storm look forward to welcoming Garett Cote to Campbell River for the 2026-27 season.
