Messer and Strange Commit to Storm

The Campbell River Storm Junior Hockey Club are pleased to announce the commitment of two talented young players. Pearce Messer (’00) and Ryan Strange are on the roster for the 2017/18 season.

Messer, previously an A/P with the club, had a phenomenal year with the Storm and the Delta Hockey Academy. In 7 VIJHL regular season games, the 5’ 9” forward, from Delta B.C., averaged better than a point per game. In the playoffs, he scored the game winning goal in Game 3 against the Cougars and at the Cyclone Taylor Cup he was selected as the Storm MVP in the Gold Medal game.

Head Coach and General Manager Lee Stone has nothing but praise for the play of the hockey smart sniper, “Fans will remember Mess very well from last year's regular season and playoff run. A very skilled forward, with a heavy shot...Mess will be relied on in key offensive situations next season should he not make the jump directly to Jr. A. Another affiliate player who has worked his way into our program!”

Ryan Strange, played last season with the Major Midget South Island Royals where he was the club’s top goal scorer. The Victoria hockey product was also an affiliate player with the Saanich Braves.

Stone feels that the 5’11” forward will surprise many in the upcoming season, “Stranger is a Coaches’ dream in terms of the way he plays the game. Incredible smarts with and without the puck, a total team mentality. A very reliable centre that can also play the wings, Ryan has demonstrated the ability to put the puck in the back of the net.”

Strange accumulated 20 points in 40 BCMML games last season.
