After their first road win of the 2007 season in Oceanside on Wednesday September 26th by a 4-3 score the Storm came up with a snozzer last Friday againest Sannich as they appeared to have as much spark as a wet match in losing 4-2 to the Braves.

In the 4-3 win over the Generals to go 2-0 againest the team that finished their 2006-07 season the Storm outshot their oppents 43-25 and got goals from Wes Agassiz,Jesse Ross and Derek Hills in the first period which ended 3-3 then got the winner in the second frame from Erik Albertson to pick up their 1st road win and their 4th win of the season.

On Friday night the Storm returned home where they had yet to lose after a win and a tie againest Kerry Park along with a opening night win againest the Generals and they where facing a Sannich team that had only one win this season. Playing a team low in the standing had the locals looking like they expected to win they came up with a lackluster performance unlike the spirited hard working effort they produced the previous Friday night againest Kerry Park.

Not taking anything away from the workman like road effort by the Braves the Storm just couldn't get untracked as they seemed to lack any spark as the Braves played a tight checking game and didn't allow the Storm a lot of good scoring chances even on the powerplay. Like last season the Storm seem to play either up to the level of the team their playing or in this case down to the level of a team that isn't full of talent like Victoria,Kerry Park or Pennisula and to be successfull they need to find a way to overcome the level of the teams such as Sannich,Sooke and the Comox Valley and compete like they do againest the leagues top teams.

On good thing came out of Friday's game was that high scoring Karl Hagg was returning to the Storm after being reasigned by the Victoria Grizzlies and should be in the lineup Friday againest their highway rivals the Comox Valley Glacier Kings to hopefully put some much needed offensive spark.

Friday nights game saw the Braves jump out to a 1-0 lead on a tip in goal that beat Storm netminder Tyler Bachmeier who was getting his first home game start after Richie Virtanan played the first three home games. After a flat 2 man powerplay where they had very few scoring chances the Storm got their own tip in goal as Dylan Behan got his stick on a Derek Hills shot at 16.29 to tie it at 1-1.The 2nd period saw Sannich go up 2-1 on a rebound in front of Bachmeier in a period where both teams had 2 man advantages but couldn't produce any goals with the Braves having the best chance but Bachmeier was able to steal one away from the Braves by grabbing the puck off the goal line to send the teams to the third with Sannich up 2-1.

The Braves started the 3rd period on the powerplay and they made the most of it by going up 3-1 at 1.52 on yet another rebound before a spectular goal from speedster Mateas Larock who went around the outside of a Brave defenseman then one handed the puck over the Brave goaltender at 4.56 to put the Storm back in the game at 3-2. The Braves reposonded at 9.19 on a 2 on 1 with a backhanded effort that got past Bachmeier to make it 4-2 and after that the Braves shut the door and didn't allow the Storm any good chances and when had any scoring chances the Braves goaltender Danny Lundin was their to end any chance of a Storm come back. The Storm return Friday night to face the Glacier Kings then head down to Kerry Park Saturday night to face the Islanders before returning home the following Friday night to face the pesky Zooke Stingers.

Other games last weekend saw Victoria go to 7-0 with a 7-1 win over Oceanside who followed that up with 6-5 win over Zooke while Kerry Park went into Courtenay and beat the Kings 4-2.
